You certainly won't have to worry about your carbon footprint during your stay, as the site is off-grid and exceptionally eco-friendly, boasting a Green Tourism Gold Award alongside its Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence and National Tourism Award for Wales. Local wildlife is protected, cared for and encouraged by the site's family owners...who knows just who you might run into on-site from time to time, from a foraging family of badgers to a colourful procession of dragonflies, to the endless varieties of birds that will brighten your mornings with their tuneful song?
You'll find seven geodesic domes (geodomes) evenly positioned around the lush woodland, each with their very own private space, firepits and wood-fired hot tubs, and with full access to shared kitchen and shower facilities. The Spacious Domes include a private compost toilet, a king bed, double futon and two extra singles as needed, so all that's left to do is decide on your ideal location! Holly Dome is situated in the heart of the woodland, with her own private compost toilet. You'll discover Oak Dome in a secluded corner, surrounded by gently rustling trees and a beautiful view of the surrounding wetlands and fields.
Beech Dome, with its friendly picture window, is perfectly positioned to make the most of the sun, with stunning views over the surrounding countryside.
For a little extra privacy, Hazel and Rowan Domes are set slightly apart from the rest of the site, close to an open running stream and sharing their own kitchen and shower facilities.
The Cosy Domes include Ash Dome, elevated in her own secluded woodland corner, perfect for couples! Or perhaps try sun-dappled Willow Dome, close to the site's living willow den and with its own grassed area and firepit.
There are plenty of places for everyone to congregate on-site, with the firepit (singing and marshmallow-toasting optional!) providing a warming evening treat...why not bring your blanket along with you? Cosy Corner and the brand-new Cosy Lounge are covered spaces equipped with plenty of soft sheepskin, comfy cushions, beanbags and low tables and chairs set around a wood-burning stove. An ideal place for planning your next adventure!
Whether you've got a passion for exploration, a thirst for culture or a craving for comfort, you'll find something to please everybody on or around the site. With the Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons and the River Wye all close by, you'll find swimming, walking, cycling, hiking, archery and even canoeing activities are all readily available.
There are a wealth of lovely local shops nearby that sell plentiful fresh produce, with regular local markets...why not find some culinary inspiration from the recipe books in the communal kitchen? If you'd rather eat out, Hay on Wye is host to many wonderful local bars and eateries.
Shopping and browsing opportunities are abound, and culture vultures will adore strolling around Hay Castle and the many National Trust properties to be discovered locally.
Staying on-site needn't be boring either, with the site's very own Kids' Activity Books, free for every child, not to mention the endless opportunities for den building and willow weaving! Adults aren't left out, with plenty of colouring books, maps, novels and local guides to explore.
