Imagine waking in a cosy bolt hole for two, overlooking the stunning Cardigan Bay - and make it a reality with an escape to the Converted Lookout.

This idyllic self-catering holiday apartment is found at Nantmawr Farm, in amongst 40 acres of open landscape just a 20-minute walk from Mwnt Beach.  The Converted Lookout is aptly named, with unbeatable views of the  sea throughout.  Spot seagulls from the kitchen, passing ships from your sitting room, or even dolphins from your patio!

As you enter the Converted Lookout, you'll find yourself in the open-plan sitting and dining room, where patio doors give you a first glimpse of those sea views.  A comfortable sofa for two, with adjustable headrests, is perfectly positioned for making the most of the seascape, or while away the hours in the rocking chair instead.  A television and DVD player also feature for your entertainment, as does an iPod dock to help you set the mood.

The drop-leaf dining table seats two comfortably - the perfect setting for morning coffee, afternoon tea, or a romantic meal together.  On fine days, why not take your meals out on the patio instead?  Head through the glazed doors and you'll find a cute little table for two, and views as far as the eye can see.

The kitchen might be one of the most unusual you've ever cooked in; semi-circular in shape, with horizontal slit windows around the top of the walls and two more below, it's beautifully quirky.  It's also ingeniously well equipped with modern units, an electric oven and hob, a fridge, and a microwave.  A handy washing machine is also supplied in a nearby outbuilding for your convenience.

A short flight of steps takes you from the main living area to the bedroom.  Light spills in through the sky light and floor-to-ceiling window, treating you to yet more gorgeous sea views.  The en-suite bathroom features a modern suite with a shower. There is also baby furniture available, making the Converted Lookout a perfect retreat for a new family.  Snuggle down in the king-size bed and sleep soundly all night through, warm and peaceful in these tranquil surroundings.

From the bedroom, a door takes you out to a second secluded patio area, complete with dining furniture and a designer BBQ.  Relax back with a glass of wine as you listen to your dinner sizzle away - the perfect way to forget the world you've left behind.

While holidaying in this stunning location, it's easy for you to get out and about and explore.  Cross Nantmawr Farm's fields and you'll find yourself on the Ceredigion Coast Path, a 60-mile trail from Cardigan to Ynyslas.  It also links with the Pembrokeshire Coast Path at Poppit Sands if you want to explore the coastline heading south - both are part of the all Wales coast path.

Mwnt Beach, owned by the National Trust, is well worth the visit.  In the summer, this beautiful, secluded bay is the perfect place to spot bottlenose dolphins and porpoises play in the surf.  The National Trust's spectacular Penbryn is also just 7 miles away along the coast.

Further inland, don't miss out on a photo opportunity at the 13th-century Cilgerran Castle, overlooking Teifi Gorge!

A whole host of charming coastal villages and their beaches are also in easy reach of the Converted Lookout, including Aberporth, Aberaeron, Tresaith, Llangrannog, New Quay and Cardigan.  Stop by at a cosy pub for a quick refresher, treat yourself to fresh seafood at one of the many restaurants, or pick up a memento or two at the variety of shops and galleries.

After a day spent exploring this wonderful area, the best part is returning to the even more wonderful Converted Lookout.  Curl up together, catch the sunset from your living room, and make plans to do it all again tomorrow.
