‘Goa for grown-ups', in the form of a luxurious and eco-friendly paradise set by the idyllic Ashwem Beach.

Reviewed by The Guardian as ‘Goa for grown-ups', if you can't relax, unwind and breathe easy amongst the lush palm groves at Yab Yum Resort, then you simply aren't human.

Yab Yum translates as "the union of one", and with focus on wellbeing and relaxation all centred around the peacefully unspoilt Ashwem Beach, you're sure to feel more at one with yourself than ever before. Just one evening watching the blazing sun sink over the warm Arabian Sea from the comfort of your honey pod, dome or cottage will be all you need to de-stress from everyday life.

You'll discover plenty of care and attention to detail in your blissful accommodation.  Futuristic and space-age in style, each ensuite dome has been lovingly constructed from local materials that include lava rock, palm leaves, mango wood and local clay.  Choose a dome for two, or a larger dome that sleeps a family of four.

If a more private pod overlooking the beach is more your style, the two double ensuite Honey Pods are located on top of the sand dunes, with views that stretch out over the beach - ideal for drifting off to sleep at night to the romantic sound of crashing waves. The Double Pod, equipped with two large bedrooms and a sumptuous rain shower, is perfect for a family or two couples.

Finally, if you prefer more traditional holiday accommodation, there is a selection of charming cottages to choose from, all constructed in the same style as the local Goan houses.
There's an eco-friendly ethos and an emphasis on ‘switching off', so you won't find mod-cons such as air conditioning or television inside the domes or the pods. But with so many natural wonders to see, and with the sea air so sweet and fresh, who needs those anyway? Simply curl up in your hammock and let the gloriously relaxed atmosphere carry your senses far away.

Oh - and if you're in need of even more relaxation, there are morning and sunset yoga classes to indulge in, or how about a healing ayurvedic massage?

A healthy breakfast is served each morning - with lunch brought to you on the beach if you just can't tear yourselves away! The sea is warm enough that you can walk straight in, and the waves never get too big or scary. Indulge to your heart's content, and then if you're in the mood to escape from paradise, you can explore with trips to the surrounding towns, villages, forts, markets and beaches.

On-site chauffeur services will take you to Anjuna, famous for its bustling market, or how about discovering the thriving city of Mapusa instead? The 60s-style hippy commune of Arambol is accessible within a 40-minute beach stroll, while those in the mood for travelling on two wheels can hire a bike and cycle along the back lanes of Mandrem (with occasional stops for fresh coconut water).

There are plenty of places to eat, drink and make merry close by, too - including the highly recommended La Plage, a mere five-minute walk from the beach gate.

With its exceptionally friendly and laid back ‘cloud nine' feel, set against a backdrop of idyllic scenery, everybody should have the opportunity to visit Goa at least once in their lives. So if you're going to take the plunge, do it in style...with a once in a lifetime stay at Yab Yum Resort.
