The Long View
The beauty of Sussex nature is effortlessly brought to your door, in a relaxing retreat with endless, far-reaching green views.
There's a timelessly magical feeling about Swallowtail Hill, and it's a feeling that friendly owners Sarah and Christopher have worked hard to perfect over the years.
A 40-acre Sussex farm that's run purely for conservation and biodiversity, you can relax amongst a unique and vibrant backdrop of soothing wildflower meadows, ancient woodland, and tranquil ponds that time seems never to have touched.
(Not to mention the friendly band of farm animals you can meet during your stay, from adorable donkeys George and Buttons, to Sue the pig and Sid the goat!)
Discover Long View itself nestled proudly in its very own eight-acre wildflower meadow. A thoughtfully detailed retreat, you'll immediately note how its name was inspired - as the glazed end showcases a gorgeous, south-facing ‘long view'. On sunny days, simply throw open the bifold doors to welcome the scenery inside.
Meanwhile, a downy kingsize bed directly faces the view (what better way to wake up?) with an en-suite shower room, and a cosy lounge and kitchen space just behind. Simply fire up the crackling wood-burner to warm your toes on chillier evenings, or curl up on the sofa with a good book (if you're bringing the kids, the sofa space can become child-sized bunk beds, instead).
Of course, you'll probably want to spend as much time as you can outside - this is the place to do it, after all! The covered dining deck is a soothing place to sit and chat with your loved one as you eat, and you can even prepare your meals outside, with help from the Kadai firebowl.
As if all this wasn't enough, there are plenty more treats in store at Swallowtail Hill. For starters, you can order breakfast or barbecue boxes to make life just that little bit easier - or why not order a delicious pre-prepared meal from the Glampsite Chef?
Head to the farm shop at the top of the hill for snacks and treats, order some fresh fruit and veg for your meals, or borrow some outdoor games for holiday fun! (Warning: you may feel compelled to stock your cupboards back home with the many flavourful home-made preserves on offer here).
Weather permitting, Sarah and Christopher are very happy for you to come and meet the cared-for farm animals at feeding time - simply bring your wellies! - or learn more about their conservation work on an energising nature walk.
But if all you need is a little extra pampering, you can arrange a gentle yoga class, or book the site's private wood-fired hot tub-for-two, which will be prepared for your arrival.
Further afield, you can head off on the Sussex Border Footpath with a pre-ordered picnic, or jump in the car for a day trip to Camber Sands. Yet once you've experienced the peaceful relaxation on offer at Swallowtail Hill, you may find it very hard indeed to leave.
Things to note
Please note that due to the current virus situation, the property is closed until further notice. Check-in is between 4-7pm. Catering options should be ordered in advance of your stay. A travel cot can be hired on request, please bring your own cot bedding. If bringing children, please note that the top bunk is suited to children up to 10 years old.
Tried and tested
"Spent three beautiful nights at the Longview to reflect on our lives, our first year as a married couple, and on our careers. The calmness and serenity were all what we needed right now. The birds whistling every morning, the wonderful hospitality of Sarah and Christopher as well as the picture-perfect view! This is our first but surely not our last visit, so see you soon Swallowtail. Thank you."
"Thanks for a really lovely stay - we so enjoyed the peace and beautiful accommodation. Our favourite thing was definitely the hot tub! This was a lovely wedding present from a family member."
"We got engaged! The most wonderful stay in Longview - completely private, quiet and beautiful. Thank you for creating and sharing such an amazing place. Will always be extra special to us and we will be back"
