Henfryn Farm
Wales / Llandysul, Carmarthenshire
Experience a fresh, certified organic break on a working West Wales farm that's the perfect natural escape from frantic everyday life.
Picturesque Henfryn Farm is a car-free Greener Camping Club site and very recently awarded Sustainable Tourism Business of the Year in the Carmarthernshire Tourism Awards. This is the ideal place to get back to nature and connect with your loved ones in an organic green paradise, full of charming scenery and the gentle sound of leaves rustling on trees.
Relax as you take in soothing views down to the river from your vantage point on the edge of the Carmarthenshire Ceridigion border, close to the invigorating West Wales Coastal Path and Preseli Mountains.
Wave to the friendly cows, geese, sheep and chickens as you explore the farm site...and perhaps collect yourselves some fresh eggs at breakfast time!
Choose your accommodation from three spacious 5-metre off-grid bell tents, each sleeping up to 4 people, with one larger 6-metre tent which can sleep 6. Pitch your own tent if you prefer, or for natural romantics, how about a cosy stay in the brand-new Shepherd's Hut for two?
The bell tents are privately spaced in luxuriant wildlife-attracting hay meadows, with one tent overlooking the river. Each contain plenty of homely comforts, with soft bedding and a wood-burning stove...not to mention a camp-fire pitch, so don't forget to fine-tune your singing voice!
Furnished with a double bed and a double futon (with an extra pair of single futons in the larger tent), you'll find your bell tent fully equipped with all you need to enjoy an indulgent holiday in the great outdoors, with a supply of fresh towels, solar lighting and cooking equipment all provided. High-quality communal facilities include composting toilets, showers and a washing-up sink, with space to charge mobile phones, a washing machine, kettle and fridge freezer in the nearby barn.
Why not treat yourselves to a barbecue on your first evening, with local bacon, sausages and beef all available to buy on the farm?
The Shepherd's Hut, secluded in the tranquil hay meadow and sheltered under whispering trees, is perfect for snuggling up against the elements, with its king sized bed and cosy seating area. The luxury kitchenette includes a wood-fired rayburn with oven and hot plate, and you'll find plenty of solar power inside for the fridge and power socket - handy for mobile phone charging.
Enjoy countless sunsets from the comfort of your private deck, with a fire-pit close by for that all-important marshmallow toasting. Communal facilities are shared with the bell tents nearby.
If you'd prefer to stay in your own tent, you'll find your private pitch well-equipped with its own fire-pit and picnic bench, with shared use of the communal facilities.
By day, why not get out exploring, with an array of beautiful gardens near the site, along with plenty of unspoilt beaches and cultural hotspots including local museums? Further afield, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion attractions are aplenty, or you can take a day trip to the bracing island of Skomer.
To add a certain touch of style to your trip, you can even arrange to hire the owners' classic 2CV for the day, along with a delicious hamper of goodies. Simply roll back the roof and trundle along the lush Teifi Valley to find the perfect picnic spot.
So come and have fun on Henfryn Farm, so full of natural goodness that you'll find it very hard indeed to leave!
