Once an exquisite Georgian church, this remarkable Grade II listed building has been lovingly and expertly converted to provide accommodation fit for the gods, achieving a 5-star Gold Award from Visit England in the process.
Perfectly situated in the North Tyne Valley, you'll be just a few yards from the soothing banks of the River North Tyne, near to Kielder Water. Sleeping up to 8 people, you'll discover your very own stunning sanctuary in Greystead Old Church that will ensure you spend your days away feeling blissfully relaxed and revived.
The striking building cuts an impressive image as you drive towards it, fuelling anticipation for your holiday to begin!
Enter, and you'll discover surroundings to gaze at in wonder as you explore your new holiday home. Many of the original church features have been kept beautifully in tact, such as the Victorian stained-glass window and tiles that inject vibrant bursts of colour. A Gothic archway and exposed stonework make for a truly authentic atmosphere that's steeped in history, while the Georgian panelling is intricate and captivating.
Luxuriate in the first-floor mezzanine living and dining area, a spaciously welcoming open plan haven that covers two thirds of the former nave and boasts tranquil hillside views from the original lancet windows and balcony. A stunning, well-equipped kitchen will soon have you whipping up bountiful banquets, with its central island and granite work surfaces providing the perfect culinary setting.
Head to the ground floor to discover four sumptuous sleeping spaces, three king-sized and one twin, all situated along a central corridor. The master bedroom has been crafted from the panelled vestry, and features an original fireplace to add a touch of romance. The king-sized rooms all feature indulgent en-suites.
Wander further along the corridor, where below the stained-glass window, you'll find the church altar has been transformed into a cosy snug...featuring a large, warming woodburner and plush seating you'll find hard to resist!
On sunnier days, you can enjoy plenty of al fresco dining and conversation in the enclosed garden with sizzling barbecue. Situated in the owners' rectory garden, this is a perfectly private space to relax in, with plenty of cosy furniture to tempt you. If you're feeling energetic, why not play a few sets of tennis on the shared all-weather court within the picturesque walled garden?
For a special night time treat, you'll find a star-gazing platform near the church garden that's ideally positioned for you to enjoy looking up at the area's famed ‘Dark Skies' in all their panoramic glory. Don't forget to pack your telescope for a dazzling view to remember.
Exploring the local area couldn't be easier, with charming Bellingham just a short drive away, and local delights including Northumberland National Park found right on your doorstep. Hadrian's Wall and the Northumberland Heritage Coast are also within easy reach. Fishing can be arranged on the North Tyne by the friendly owners in advance of your stay.
