The Wild Duck is a former 19th century boat, uniquely transformed into a luxurious Heacham haven ideal for seaside family holidays.
  • Sleeps: 6
  • Bedrooms: 3
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

Perfectly positioned behind scenic sand dunes at Heacham South Beach and overlooking the Snettisham RSPB Reserve, The Wild Duck is no ordinary dog-friendly holiday haven.

Originally bespoke-constructed all the way back in 1878, in the 21st century you’ll find The Wild Duck set firmly on dry land, yet still gloriously drenched in the sounds of the sea and the gentle rustling of the reeds…ideal lullabies to drift off to in your cosy bed, with absolutely no seasickness in sight!

This charming former vessel now sleeps up to six people in three cosy bedrooms.  Fans of nautical nostalgia will find The Wild Duck heartily equipped with many of its original features, with plenty of fresh, vibrant and clean-lined décor throughout.  Elevated and comfortably furnished sun decks ensure you can enjoy those outstanding Wash sunsets to their full effect, as you catch up with your loved ones over a sizzling supper.

If you had a hunch that living on a former boat might mean compromising on luxury, think again! You’ll find a well-equipped kitchen on board, complete with everything you need to whip up seafaring feasts – and there’s even an espresso maker for that all-important morning shot of caffeine. Look out over the sand dunes as you prepare your meals, and revel in all that picturesque tranquility.

The stunning views continue as you head into the stylish and welcoming lounge, with its squishy seating, TV, DVD player and iPod dock, allowing you to set the perfect evening mood.

Choose your favourite sleeping space from three homely and nautically decorated bedrooms, the master built into the bow and providing a 180-degree vista over the nature reserve. The second view-filled bedroom is discovered in the boat’s hull, while the third bedroom is especially built for children, also in the hull with two single beds and refreshing natureful views. A spacious bathroom is found further along, complete with an indulgent shower.

After a sound night’s sleep and a tasty breakfast, why not get to know the local area? Just outside, you’ll find plenty of wide unfenced open space for the kids (big kids included!) to run around and play in, with your coastal location ideal for cockling and walking at low tide, then windsurfing and boating when the tide is high.
