The Gate Lodge
Luxurious self-catering accommodation in and below extended gate lodges at Sibton Park, Suffolk, designed by neoclassical architect James Wyatt.
As you approach the exquisite gatehouses of Suffolk's Sibton Park, you'd never know the Gate Lodge lies beneath - a luxurious holiday hideaway for four.
Originally designed by neoclassical architect James Wyatt, these Grade II listed gate lodges have been expertly extended and converted into beautiful accommodation. Utilising the lodges themselves and space below the driveway they guard, this gorgeous holiday home is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
As you enter through the west lodge, you'll find a cosy snug - the perfect place for curling up and escaping with a good book - and a gorgeous wooden staircase taking you to the main house below. Upon reaching the kitchen downstairs, you'll be amazed at how this beautiful living space is so perfectly hidden, yet comprises so much to enjoy.
The kitchen has been well designed to incorporate everything you need in one compact package. Leading through, you'll find yourself in the spacious drawing room, comprising a dining table and chairs, and a comfortable sitting area with plush sofas and an open fireplace. Light spills into this beautiful room through the French doors that open to your own private patio. You'll also notice the architectural details that mimic Wyatt's neoclassical style, from high ceilings to curved walls.
The drawing room leads through to the calming Master bedroom. With a second set of French doors leading out onto another private sun terrace, this room is filled with gorgeous light that sets off the chic, clean décor. The luxurious en-suite bathroom features a heavenly bath tub with shower attachment, and even has its own mosaic-tiled steam room for that extra touch of indulgence.
A spiral staircase takes you up to the east gate lodge. Again, this has been finished with the same elegant style that is seen throughout the Gate Lodges. Wake peacefully to the sounds of the countryside as light spills through the traditional sash windows.
As well as this beautiful home to enjoy, you can also bask in the gorgeous space that surrounds it. From your patio, have your breakfast in the sunshine or make the most of fine weather with a BBQ. Have no fear of being overlooked; banks of grass on each side protect your privacy and make this little haven your own.
You also have full use of Sibton Park's gorgeous outdoor swimming pool, surrounded by landscaped, grassed slopes and luxurious poolside furniture. If you're feeling a little more active, head to the tennis courts for a quick game of doubles or singles.
Sibton Park itself is now a haven for wildlife, so be sure to explore the beautiful grounds while looking out for anything from buzzards to barn owls. A whole host of activities can be arranged for you too, including scavenger hunts, chef-prepared picnics, and rowing on the estate's lakes.
Beyond Sibton Park, you're ideally located for exploring all Suffolk has to offer, starting with the pretty villages of Yoxford and Peasenwell on your doorstep. You're only a short drive from Aldeburgh, Southwold, and Walberswick on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, or Snape Maltings for its music and art. There are some fantastic places to eat and drink, including the Westleton Crown, the Sibton White Horse, and the Queen's Head in Dennington. A little further afield, visit famous Cambridge for excellent shopping, culture, and punting!
A break to the country is always special, but make it even more so at The Gate Lodge - a truly beautiful, utterly unique home where unexpected discoveries are a good thing indeed.
